Western Bays Junior Rugby League Wins $3000

Western Bays brings together kids from the Porirua Vikings, St George Dragons, Kapiti Bears, University Hunters, Whiti Te Ra and Titahi Bay Marlins to play rugby league as one club. They field four teams: mixed under 11s and under 12s, plus under 13s girls and boys.

This season, Western Bays kitted out its players and supporters in hoodies and warmup tops, so the whole team looked sharp arriving at games and out in the community. Jeremy at Classic Uniforms supplied and printed the XT Performance Hoodies in Navy/Red, and the order went in on 29 July. That order went into the draw, and it won the final $3,000 prize. You can see the kids wearing those very hoodies in the photo with the prize cheque.

What will the prize mean for the club?

The $3,000 is going into new game day jerseys. Western Bays hasn't had new playing jerseys in over ten years, so for the clubs that make up Western Bays, it's a massive boost.

Once the regular season wraps up, Western Bays takes on Hutt Valley in a three-game State of Origin series, with a shield and a year's worth of bragging rights on the line.
